 BC Liberals and BC NDP more of the same. No changes for citizens with them!

Campbell and James' marriage of convenience?
Both of the parties are in bed together politically. Neither deserve the control of BC!

THE B.C. Refederation Party     MEDIA RELEASE 20081128

In a Province article by Keith Fraser;

["The Supreme Court of Canada has granted special prosecutor Bill Berardino leave to appeal a contentious ruling in the case of three former B.C. government aides facing corruption charges. The trial judge, B.C. Supreme Court Madam Justice Elizabeth Bennett, had ruled that defence lawyers in the case could be present during arguments regarding a police informant."]" Full article>Appeal_ruling to go ahead in Basi-Virk case

As a result of this, a BC Refederation Government would take every step available to have any and all documents and witnesses related to this shady deal between the Gordon Campbell Liberal Government and CN Rail [a major contributor to the Campbell Liberals just prior to his decision to sell off the British Columbia Railway (BCR)], released in full.

"BC Refederation will make ALL documents related to this utter scam released in full. Gordon Campbell will not walk away from this untouched." says Mike Summers the irate leader of BC Refederation. "This disgusting breach has the smell of an act of treason on Campbell's part. And, Carole James is not acting in the interests of BC citizens by not demanding that this trial proceed! If this trial is delayed much longer, one has to wonder if these men are going to see trial at all" says a very upset Summers who picketed in Prince George by himself when the big train executives came to look at the BCR prior to the bidding process even beginning.

"The BCR was a vital portion of the heritage of BC citizens. It was bought and paid for and was an often milked cow by many governments over the years" says Summers, who has made his home in Vanderhoof, the geographic center of BC.

Gordon Campbell campaigned offering openness and accountability prior to stealing the BCR away from the people of BC. "It wasn't his to give away!" says Summers, who is party leader and candidate for the new constituency of Bulkley-Nechako next May. "The BCR is a provincial asset and belongs to the people. Just like BC Hydro, which Paul Nettleton saved through his bomb that he dropped exposing Gordon Campbell's desire to sell it off too!! It belonged to the people and he should have had to ask for their permission to sell it off... it should be his requirement to get the people's permission to sell of any major asset of the province."

BC Refederation's DIRECT DEMOCRACY provisions will make such abuses of power absolutely impossible. Any piece of legislation passed in the house will be subject to a veto should the voters desire it. And any enabling legislation to sell off an asset would be subject to that as well.

"Carole James and her NDP is a shocking, disgraceful example of political cowardice in not taking a strong public stand on this and other issues in this province. Which shows why she and the NDP should not be given the reigns of governance here in BC either." concludes Summers.

October meetings on Vancouver Island lively and informative!

A lively group of people greeted Mike Summers on Vancouver Island during his October visit there. Meetings were held in Victoria, Nanaimo and Courtenay. Numbers were smaller than hoped for but the meetings proved to be a good venue for discussing issues as well as strategies for the time running up to the May '09 elections.

"Getting our name and message out is the biggest issue right now" says Summers. "We will be focusing on the local grassroots for now."  BC Refed is still recruiting members and potential candidates for the next election.

If you or anyone you know is interested in running, please contact us ASAP.

Mike in Victoria for October meetings.

Keeping the  eyes on the prize.

TAXES ON TAXES!! A fine BC tradition loved by the feds...AGAIN!!!  "Who the heck is fighting for BC?" Mike Summers, leader of BC Refederation.

Federal government making big bucks off of BC's Campbell Carbon Tax.

In a column by Michael Smyth of the Province (
http://www.canada.com/theprovince/columnists/story.html?id=385cc1cd-36e7-4675-8e82-b42925850ed4) The federal government is making money hand over fist off of the backs of British Columbians.
GST is being charged on every cent of the supposedly Revenue Neutral Carbon Tax.
While our own BC Government is expected to claw $1.8 Billion out of consumers, the federal government using what could be proven to be an illegal direct tax, will scoop up some $92 MILLION off of you during the same period.
You will of course be able to take comfort in that we are helping out the needy in Quebec or Ontario with our EXTRA contributions in taxation.

Isn't it about time a government fought FOR you as a change of pace?

In the original negotiations pre-confederation, DIRECT TAXATION by the federal government was illegal. None of our provincial leaders has contested this fraud. Well... we will. See our policy #3.

Meetings in the rest of BC are in planning right now.

"I am very excited at the opportunity to let our simple, common sense message be shared FINALLY as it should be. We are different from all other BC parties." says an enthusiastic Summers.

And this piece sent to us from a retired federal civil servant. Official Bilingualism fraud on Canadians.

"Thank you for sending me this. The thing you must understand though, is that Official Bilingualism has nothing to do with spreading knowledge of and fluency in the French language across Canada. As a career federal civil servant based in Vancouver it took me a while to figure it out, but it all became clear soon enough. Official bilingualism was created by Trudeau to put French Canadians in charge in Ottawa. Before official bilingualism, Ottawa was run by Anglophones. The merit principle applied.

Once official bilingualism was in place, it became mandatory that top civil service positions be filled by bilingual people. French Canadians, being immersed in an ocean of English, had a huge edge in meeting this requirement, so in a short time we found the head of all the important departments was a French Canadian, because bilingualism trumped the merit principle. Of course the quality and integrity of the civil service declined precipitously, but that didn't matter to Trudeau, Mulroney, Chretien, Martin or any of the other Quebec PMs. The important thing was that Quebecers took control in Ottawa.

Although a facade has been erected to make it seem that Anglophones can be taught French so that they can qualify, this is a futile and mendacious program.

So don't kid yourselves that official bilingualism has anything to do with making Canada a bilingual country. It is all about putting Quebec in charge, and all else is smoke and mirrors." (Name withheld by request)

Almost 42% of potential Voters

don't vote at all!!

According to Elections BC web statistics, 41.81% of the folks who "COULD" vote in an election, simply don't.

The question that must of course be asked is, "WHY?"

I believe that the answer is simple. They feel frustrated and defeated because our current system and the politicians who control it don't listen to what the voters really want, and we as voting citizens are powerless to change the decisions made by them EVEN IF WE WANTED TO TRY.

That is why the BC Refederation Party has a simple 1-2-3 plan.

Only we have the established plan to hand control of the BC politician to the citizens of BC. Only we have a plan to take control of the judiciary within BC so that real justice might be given a chance. And only we have a plan to force Ottawa give control of the country back to the provinces and the citizens within each province.

BC Refederation is the only political party to finally give you a reason to vote. Maybe this is your first time, or maybe you just gave up.

Now is the time to vote if you never thought about voting.

 BC STV IS THE WORST THING FOR BC!!!

We seek to empower the citizens of BC by use of Direct Democracy. We propose to enact legislation which

1) creates easier recall of unlistening politicians;

2) provides for initiative legislation which is binding on the legislature to enact;

3) allows for a voter veto of ANYTHING a politician or political party does in legislation.

This is already in our proposed Direct Democracy policy.

Secondly, we propose that BC should have a lawfully voter ratified constitution. Unlike Gordon Campbell's Citizen Assembly which drafted the very flawed BC-STV model, which was also bound by a mandate of the "WESTMINSTER MODEL" (parliament is supreme even over citizens), the BC Refederation Party will throw the doors open to a similar Citizen Assembly, which will be unrestrained from finding the BEST system regardless of tradition.

We expect that the citizens will come up with a written document that will fully empower citizens over politicians, and that politicians will have sufficient rules so it won't matter which party formed government because the rules would make them to be no more than administrators of the public good. And if at anytime, they get as dumb as the lot we have seen for such a long time, the people can and will stop them in their tracks.

There are lots of "ISSUES". But issues are not the problem. Politicians are the problem. And until politicians are brought under the absolute control of citizens, NOTHING YOU HAVE SEEN TONIGHT WILL EVER CHANGE!

If you want to finally change things to where you can really have a shot at changing BC one item at a time, I dare say that we are your best shot.

And before you try to suggest that BC-STV will do what you want, I suggest you think again. And I ask you, "What controls on politicians does STV promise you in writing?" The answer, nothing.

And what recourse do you have in a recall where blame for not listening cannot be assigned to one person in a multi-member riding? None.

Don't fall for the STV lies. This model is not used much!!

Do you believe that BC-STV will cost you less than what we have now? It won't. In fact it will likely cost two or three times more than we are paying right now. Because each member will have their own offices scattered among the old constituencies, travel costs within the riding will have to be factored in. Food and lodging at each end of a riding.

BC-STV will also multiply work loads for MLA's. Where they currently serve a population of some 40,000 people, the very least an MLA will become responsible for is 120,000. Three MLA's may share the same 120,000, but each MLA is still responsible for all of them. And it will be worst in the GVRD where up to seven constituencies are going to make up on riding meaning an MLA is going to see the population responsibility swell to over 200,000 citizens. How is that representative?

And my final argument against STV may perhaps be a bit simplistic, but if Gordon Campbell likes BC-STV... CAN THIS BE A GOOD THING???

By far the best alternative is to elect one party to empower citizens absolutely over politicians. This we can deliver on. Then the same citizens can toss us back out again and it won't matter.
