Mike Summers, Leader of BC Refederation

And candidate for the new Bulkley Nechako constituency.

Gordon Campbell is likely one of the most mean spirited Premiers in BC history!!

Benefits to adults with disabilities tied to an IQ of 70 or less.

On July 18, premier Gordon Campbell signed an order in council which placed limits on the government's need to assist those who are among BC's most vulnerable, by signing into law via an order in council,  an order that allows the government to ignore the needs of many disabled persons by an arbitrary application of a number.  Many disabled persons exist with a relative IQ higher than 70, but are still very much disabled and in need of assistance.

I am shocked that even Campbell could be so cold hearted towards societies most vulnerable. And for his cabinet collegues to be so gutless where this man is concerned is troubling at the least.

If ever there was a reason to elect a BC Refederation Government, this is it.

This information was brought to my attention first by an article by Bill Tieleman in the periodical *24 Hrs* Vancouver where he is a columnist.  This underscores the vital need of hard working media and how the media will be vital in the informing of the public, the goings on in government. Now all we need is a vehicle by which an informed public can stop government from doing this.

And only one party in BC WILL do this. WE ARE THAT PARTY.

BC Refederation protecting consumers

Is there a choice of parties who will protect citizens of BC? YES! There is!

THE B.C. REFEDERATION PARTY _Media Release 20080714

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

It has now been two full weeks since Gordon Campbell and his BC Liberals have shoved their Carbon Tax on the consumers of BC. Citizens have rallied, protested, honked horns, complained and signed enough petitions to use a tanker car of ink all to no avail and all with no alternatives....the NDP and the Greens offer their version of the same old...sham and scam, and again, no alternatives!

NO alternatives and NO competition guarantees that prices will continue to climb and the people will suffer from this contrived instability.

The BC Refederation Party will fix this immediately on assuming governance BY;

1) Scrapping the Campbell Carbon Tax and leaving the tax breaks in place. BC

taxpayers are paying too much tax anyway.

2) Legislating that existing and future environment / carbon taxes and levies be

channelled to R&D at our BC universities/colleges, and, become a world leader

in marketing energy alternatives.

3) Including vehicle and home fuels in the Public Utilities Act to reflect proposals

4,5 and 6.

4) Enacting legislation that will require "all" fuel retailers, including independents,

to give 2 weeks notice prior to raising the price of motor fuel or furnace oils.

This will give consumers a chance to soften the blow of an increase in prices

by seeking competitive alternatives".

5) Requiring all branded chains such as Shell, Husky, Chevron, Esso adopt a

uniform pricing strategy. The price you see on fuel at a branded retailer in

one community shall be the same at EVERY station of that brand province

wide but to encourage competition, there will be no notice required for a

decrease in price. However, a decrease in one community of a branded or

independent station shall result in a decrease everywhere in BC for that

brand.

6) Introducing an "honest pricing policy" for fuels. Prices at the pumps shall be

rounded out, for example 145.9 will either be $1.45 or $1.46...the little games

in the pricing of fuel so prevalent now shall be shall be minimized.

BC Refederation believes that while the world markets drive price fluctuations, the oil companies use this situation to aid and abet the lack of competition or worse, remove it entirely by manipulating the retailers. Therefore we will assist the consumer in recognizing outright price gouging, and, we will endeavour to install 'honest pricing policies' to reduce the instability damaging our economy.

BC Refederation is the only party prepared to protect the citizens of BC. This and ALL other legislation will be subject to our direct democracy act which allows the option for public approval when they desire it.

Your Politicians think that

Voters are stupid and untrustworthy...

They must think this. Campbell who campaigned on a platform of greater accountability years ago, continues to arrogantly ram policies, regulations and legislation through with stifled debate if he actually offers debate at all.

Carole James leads the party that COULD HAVE BUT DID NOT allow BC citizens the right to control politicians and the political processes, but did not give you that right.

In fact, no other party in BC has a comprehensive plan to strip politicians of the power to abuse like BC Refederation has. Why is that? All parties have a wish list they all call policy. But Only one party has the plan which will give final say on any issue to the citizens of BC.

From taxes to provincial policy, BC Refed will make voters boss so that we won't have anymore sell offs of crown assets without asking the people first. No more arbitrary taxes that the people can't undo. No more politicizing of so many issues.

If you have had just about enough of the games to vote differently, "JUST ONCE" we are the place to be.

Development? At what cost?

We see all kinds of development applications going forward in BC. For mining, new electrical production on our rivers. We have fish farms where the science shows that they are having a detrimental impact on wild salmon stocks... We have a responsibility to protect our world. But where are the alternatives?

We like our people to work. As a party, we do not have a "EXTREME GREEN" agenda. We are all for green alternatives that are viable. We are committed to funding research in OUR colleges and universities, using the intelligent people we already have. Not importing someone Else's answers.

We are a centrist party whose aims are to strip politicians of their power to unilaterally make decisions they won't have to live with.

The latest move by uncontrolled politicians was for the feds to apparently allow mining operations to use 'live' lakes as tailing ponds. As I said, I'm no radical environmentalist, but I am not prepared to just ignore this. And I don't think most people would either.

How can you stop the politicians from doing whatever they like? Only one way folks!

YOU NEED TO SUPPORT BC REFED... "JUST ONCE!!"

BC Refederation is the only party that will allow you the voter to decide what is and is not good for you. YOUR VOTE. YOUR DECISION.

Join with us and you tell the politicians how it's going to go...

___________________________________________________

The new election 2009 brochures are done.

We are the only centrist party in BC with a viable plan for BC. We need your help to get us new members, potential candidates and we do of course need money to get us elected. These new brochures are an easy tool for letting your friends and neighbours know what we believe.

Nothing radical. Common sense without extremes... unless you are a politician that is.

June 2, 2008  media release.

THE B.C. REFEDERATION PARTY _Release 200800602 / FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NOTICE OF CLOSURE

The BC Refederation Party is today making the following notice of closure.

Another session of the BC Legislative Assembly has drawn to an end. And in typically undemocratic fashion, the government of today rammed through legislation some of which is aimed at limiting the critics of the provincial government from the free exercise of speech and also the made in BC Carbon Tax.

"This government, and all others before it take considerable joy in squelching free speech and truly democratic process." says Mike Summers, party leader.

"To that end, the BC Refederation Party will abolish CLOSURE as an instrument of legislative bullying."

The BC Refederation Party has their established policy which will end abuse of citizens and abuse of legislative power by politicians in BC forever.

"Every vote in the house shall be a free vote and members will be expected to vote according to the needs of their constituents. Additionally, recall and initiative provisions will be adjusted in our proposed Direct Democracy legislation so that abuses of power such as we have just seen will not be beyond the grasp of an angry electorate to undo." says an angry Summers. "Politicians are universally hated in BC because of unwelcome antics like this."

BC Refederation will bring together a group of citizens to draft a constitution for BC. Such a constitution will clearly define the limits of power for all aspects of governance, and the final version will be submitted to the citizens of BC for their approval.

"No man's life, liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session."
- Mark Twain (1866)

And truer words were never spoken. Especially in BC!!

Giving politicians the 1-2-3... It is so easy to beat their lines!

Just got back from the mall a short time ago.
I forgot about the long weekend but had some really good conversations with people who were not happy with any politicians.
It seems that people are not happy with any politician from any party. But all were responsive to the idea of "JUST ONCE" when talking about politicians who make a career out of lying.
When shown our 1-2-3 policy for change, those people were responsive.
May 17/08 in Vanderhoof COOP Mall. Kicking it all off
One 91 year old survivor of WWII Holland, called me an optimist. But she still liked the idea of the goals we have. She felt better after I told her about me playing beat the clock with the MS.  That's when she told me that she was 91 and doing the same thing!  She asked me how she could know this wasn't just a scam to steal her money. I gave her a card and said to her that I live here. Phone me at home.  She asked me if she should send the money to this address (indicating party mailing address in Nanaimo. I actually expect this old girl to join. I am honoured to have answered her concerns too.
I had another fellow ask if we are running a full slate. I told him we are recruiting candidates right now and that we want a full slate.
I had still another fellow ask about the carbon tax. I said to him, "Gone!"  He took an application with him as he hurried away.
So, not as many people as I had hoped for, but good responses from those I did talk to.
Mel, your suggestion about 1-2-3 works really well. It doesn't matter what the issue is, I was able to say the problem is politicians and here is what we can do...with your help.
To say that I feel more hyped than ever is an understatement. I feel like a lion that has had the first taste of blood. I want more. That was some of the most fun I have had for ages.
I found it to be an absolute blast to be on the voter's side in this.
______________________________________________________________________

And what will you do with yours???

And we have had one BC couple send us us a note to say that as soon as there was a political party that would kill Campbell's economy killing Carbon Tax, they would contribute their $100 cheque to us. We are THAT party!

Will you support our effort to "Axe THAT tax!!" and "Kill the pensions too"?

JUST ONCE!!!  Join us today.

B.C. REFEDERATION PARTY ELECTS NEW LEADER.

Summers Mike BCrefedMike Summers of Courtney B.C. Has been elected as the new leader of the B.C.Refederation Party.

Mr. Summers is a resident of Vanderhoof  B.C. He was born in Duncan, B.C., in 1957 and was involved in various levels of the transportation industry for over 30 years.

He was diagnosed in 2005 as having MS and is currently on a disability pension.

He says "I joined Refederation just recently as an upstart trying to find a home where I could join with others of a like mind. It has always been my belief that the collective wisdom of the voters is far superior to that of any politician or political party."

"Over the years I have sought to have the B.C. Recall and Initiative legislation changed into something binding on governments. BC Refederation is the only party that holds out this hope. There is a significant difference between BC Refed and other provincial parties. The objective of all the other parties is to be elected to power in Victoria under the existing political system in order to run the province their way. But BC Refed aims to gain power in Victoria in order to give the voters of BC the right to have the last word on how this province should develop. In other words, to turn the present phony democracy into a true democracy"

One of his stated goals as leader of BC Refederation, "is to turn politicians from being rulers, to mere administrators, answerable at all times to the public who should have the final word on any decisions which affect them."

Independent watchdog will not abide by rule to run public statements by officials, Fraser says

OTTAWA-May 1, 2008
By Bruce Campion-Smith
Toronto Star
Ottawa bureau chief

EXTRACT

Ottawa's financial watchdog says she won't go along with draft government rules that she says would undermine the independence of officers of Parliament like herself.

Auditor-General Sheila Fraser found allies yesterday who condemned the Conservative proposal, which could mean that Parliament's officers must vet their public statements through a wing of the Prime Minister's Office, as an unprecedented attack on the independence of the officers, who are supposed to work at arm's length.

The draft proposal would lump in Fraser, along with other officers of Parliament such as the head of Elections Canada, and the privacy, information and ethics commissioners with all other government departments and demand they get high-level approval before speaking out.

"It's absolutely unacceptable and it's an attack on the independence of officers of Parliament," NDP MP David Christopherson (Hamilton Centre) said yesterday.

"This will be resolved. It's just a matter of how much dust do we have to kick up and how far do we have to drag the Prime Minister kicking and screaming to acknowledge that there are people in this country that he doesn't control."

Fraser said yesterday that the independent officers have been inadvertently ensnarled in a policy aimed at government bureaucrats and was optimistic that a resolution would be found. But the outspoken auditor also made clear she wouldn't co-operate anyway with the proposed edict.

"I do not believe there is any kind of ... ill will towards officers of Parliament," she said in an interview.

"When they issue these policies, to be quite frank, they don't consider officers of Parliament. We're six relatively small agencies," Fraser said.

The draft communications plan would demand that communications "products" be vetted by the Privy Council Office, which is the bureaucratic wing of the Prime Minister's Office, and other high-level government officials.

"I truly believe that the government itself recognizes that would be inappropriate," Fraser said.

Fraser revealed the existence of the proposed policy Tuesday when she appeared before the Commons public accounts committee to discuss her office's operations.

"Recently, for example, there's a draft communication policy going around that would have all communication strategies, all communications, everything, go through Privy Council Office," Fraser told MPs.

"Well, I can tell you there is no way that my press releases about my report are going to go to Privy Council Office or our communications strategies are going to be vetted by Privy Council Office."

Fraser and the other officers have struck a working group to get clarification on this and other federal policies on issues like audits, travel and advertising they say infringes on their independence.

But it's the proposed communications plan that has provoked concern among the agencies.

"We don't want this to apply to us," said Robin Cantin, spokesperson for the commissioner of official languages, Graham Fraser. "Our concerns stand."

AMAZING!! Gordon Campbell defends Carbon Tax despite high prices!

Watch a short video response HERE.  LET'S SCRAP THE TAX!!!

PM Harper meets with NAFTA Partners.

Canada's PM meets with the other two partners in NAFTA (US and Mexico) fueling speculation that our "three Amigos" as they are known are working on a deal to create the supposed NAU (North American Union). BC Refederation, as government will enact legislation to insulate us from any such moves. The federal government as constituted in the original BNA, is actually servant to the provinces having only jurisdiction over affairs of the nation and in international agreements. BC will use the notwithstanding clause to prevent us from being drawn into anymore bad agreements.  The federal government is responsible for the 15% export tariff on softwood lumber, having left behind $1 billion dollars in illegal penalties by the US Commerce Department. That 'deal' was negotiated when the Loonie was only worth $.85 US. But the rise of the Canadian Dollar has resulted in an actual penalty of 30% on BC lumber exports.

And to top it all off, there is nobody from the BC Liberals or BC NDP that has dared to suggest reopening the agreement to fix tariffs to a par level against the American dollar.

Oil hits nearly $120 per barrel.

Forest industry already being thrashed by Mountain Pine Beetles, a government negotiated 15% export tariff will soon be nailed by a gone green Gordon Campbell government.  Aren't prices high enough on fuel to make us stop using so much carbon emitting fuels?

Oil hit nearly $120 per barrel with no end in sight. Transportation industry is being hit very hard and is forced to in turn pass the costs to the consumer. And for all that, the BC Liberal government is set to tack on even more taxes with it's insane CARBON TAX! The BC government is calling the carbon tax revenue neutral. The idea being that that while the government doesn't actually get to keep the extra (wink wink), the addition costs to transportation are being passed on to you after all. A BC Refederation government will kill this burdensome tax immediately. This tax is being forced onto people while providing no alternatives to existing fossil fuel use.

I have contacted the David Suzuki Foundation personally asking for alternatives to fossil fuel usage, and asking for retrofit solutions, and they have none to offer. So we are being taxed and told to stop using fuels that have a carbon footprint, but are not being given a solution which is viable.  Nice eh?
